After some studies with these fantastic images of the New Zealand Kaka Bird, I decided they would be best suited to a seires of gift cards, partly because of their strong graphic qualities.

Inspired by the old masters to create a contemporary portrait of
the New Zealand native bird the Kea.  Here I have captured the inquisitive bird in all its beauty, glory and abundance of feathers reminiscent of the Maori Cloak set against the rugged New Zealand Landscape.

Being accepted for the Auckland Original Art Sale this year had me inspired to paint a series of New Zealand Native Birds.

Currently studying the Kea and the Falcon, with further exploration to explore some other New Zealand life forms the Albatross/Gannets, and the Tuatara.
