The story of Pania of the Reef. Maori Legend tells how a beautiful maiden, Pania left her sea people to marry Maori chieftain Karitoki. Pania was eventually called back to the sea by her people. As she tried to return to her lover, Karitoki, she was drawn down to the ocean, where she lies today, immortalised as Pania Reef.
