Inspired by two incredible Artists Bill Hammond, and Francis Bacon to illustrate the Gannets which we have right here on our back door step. Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes' Bays largest mainland gannet colony in the world! Painting size 1.2 x 1.8m Diptych with Life, Energy and Movement. Thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece, it was a lot of fun! Looking forward to working on larger paintings in the future.

Two entries for the Hawkes’ Bay Fruit Growers Art Competition 2013 this Gold Rush - Winner Inspired by the irrigation units, I have managed to capture the rush of water shooting out of the golden pipe work by applying the paint expressively through abstraction, expressionism and realism. This was a fun piece to do and I can feel the force of the water. I was surprised to win this years Fruit Growers Art Competition sponsored by Gifford Devine Barristers & Solicitors. Thank you to everyone who voted. Priceless SOLD After such an incredibly dry hot summer in H.B. I was inspired by the signage on the side of the road displaying the fire risks, and so I reused this signage and through manipulating the text have redefined the importance of water when a drought occurs. Water is 'Priceless'. After some studies with these fantastic images of the New Zealand Kaka Bird, I decided they would be best suited to a seires of gift cards, partly because of their strong graphic qualities.
Large Landscape Painting of Cathdral Cove, Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. A belated wedding gift for my cousin. Here I experimented with a different technique of layering the paint and using a palette knife to reveal an interesting mix of colour and light effect, especially in the sky and the ocean. Pet Portraits are a beautiful way to celebrate and honor your beloved animal. Honoured to paint a portait of this beautiful dog for a local lady in a photo realist style, I feel I have captured her unique personality, expression and likeness here. It was a pleasure to work on this project, and I look forward to future commissions capturing more animals onto canvas, in an original piece of art which can be treasured for a life time. |
